ABOUT US
Harbor Book Nook is situated in the heart of Victor Harbor, one of South Australia's most picturesque tourist towns. Our shop has been a bookshop for over 40 years, making it one of the oldest in the state (albeit with a few name changes over the years!)
We stumbled upon this gem of a shop by chance, after it had been closed for several years. We had always been avid readers so when we had the opportunity to reopen the doors, how could we resist? It took quite a bit of organising and problem solving (luckily that's a skill we have in spades from our careers in Plumbing and Nursing) and a facelift, and what we created was a haven for book lovers.
Recently we had the opportunity to take over The Book Keeper in Strathalbyn, a gorgeous shop that has been running for more than a decade. How could we say no! With the help of our Mums (Marion and Genece) we have been able to give the shop a rejig and open up 6 days a week.
We love to help others on their reading journey - whilst we have our own favourite genres, nothing makes us happier than discussing other people's best reads and hearing about how books have influenced their lives.
We have worked with the local community, supporting the area's charities and businesses and we always try to minimise our environmental footprint by rehoming books that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.
Both of our stores provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for you to browse our range, and even sit for a spell in our Nook. We look forward to seeing you soon!
